YES! YES! YES! I’ve been waiting so long to hear more new material from one of my all time favorites, This Providence! I came back from my night class and logged onto Facebook only to find everyone talking about their new song they premiered. Like any normal and by all means not obsessed and totally calm fan would do, I closed all of the open windows on my computer screen, plugged in my headphones so any possible interruptions wouldn’t bother me, took a deep breath and pressed play within seconds! There is just something about hearing a song from your favorite band for the first time. It’s like when your a little kid and you wake up ready to open all of your gifts on your birthday morning. You don’t know what it’s going to sound like, you don’t know what it might end up meaning to you, you don’t know what kind of story the lyrics will tell, you don’t know how many times your going to end up blasting it through your speakers, you don’t know if it’s going to be fast or slow or upbeat or it could be both. You don’t know anything until you’ve pressed play and listened. Well I have now listened to their new song, “Trouble”, a good ten times and I’ll probably listen another ten tonight before bed and then plenty more times tomorrow. Sometimes bands, after a few years without releasing material, will change their sounds and it’s rather disappointing to fans who have waited those few years to hear new music but not This Providence. They’re talented and so true to themselves and their sound. I truly respect that. Dan’s vocals, the instrumentals and just all of their songs, have something very comforting and mellow yet energetic and lively about them all at the same time. This new song “Trouble” isn’t lyrically one of their songs that has a deeper meaning for me, I can’t help but want more of it! The bass and the edgy melody paired with the hooks and lyrics- just perfect. So unbelievably worth the wait. I can’t wait until May 1st till the EP drops! I’ll be on the edge of my seat for the rest of the month now!
